Tour and gin tasting at Shakespeare Distillery
Members had a memorable tour of the distillery of the local artisan, carbon neutral spirit producer, followed by a guided tasting.
We started with the history of the company - a family affair - and went on to an explanation of how the spirits are distilled using a variety of natural botanicals.
We enjoyed learning about the state of the art stills and the high- and low- tech bottling, labelling and capping processes.
All of this was topped off with a tasting of three gins - with an option of a rum - one of the few 'made from scratch' in the UK. There were no complaints!
The way to enjoy? Lots of ice, not too much tonic, and with good friends!
